Let’s face it, not everyone wants to party before they walk down the aisle. Maybe the bride is not the partying type, or perhaps she is in major need of destressing before she steps into that white dress. Because 2020… This year has been stressful for most without the added pressure of having to navigate wedding planning through a global pandemic. A relaxing intimate get together with her closest gals offers the perfect opportunity to be pampered and recharge after months of busy wedding planning. There are now more options to choose from than the traditional visit to a day spa to treat the bride-to-be before her special day. Take your pick from our round up of pamper party ideas and enjoy!

Make me over

Organise for the bride-to-be to have her hair and makeup done on the day of her hens, but if you can, keep it hush hush so it is a nice surprise for her. Give her a heads up that you’ll be picking her up a little early, letting her know that she just needs to bring along her beautiful self and that fabulous outfit as you have everything else covered. If she hasn’t yet had her final wedding hair and makeup trial yet, this is a great opportunity to engage the services of her chosen hair and makeup artist/s and try out her wedding day look. It is also a fun way to gather the bridesmaids before meeting the rest of the girl gang and treat the bride-to-be to her own personal pamper party.

Hello perfect eyebrows!

Lessons, classes and workshops are hugely popular for hens parties right now, but have you considered a makeup class or skincare lesson to perfect your skills? This one is ideal for the bride-to-be who is on first name basis with her local postie due to all those parcels that keep arriving from her favourite beauty store!

During an interactive group skincare lesson with Sydney-based Simply Moreno, you will learn about your skin type and what products to use for best results. Because, there’s a lot of us out there who are just winging it, right?! With a group makeup lesson you will be guided by a professional makeup artist who can show you all the tricks of the beauty trade including how to recreate model-perfect eyebrows. All the while the woman of the hour is sitting pretty as the makeup artist’s demonstration model. With a full face of makeup you best make the most of it and head out for drinks or dinner afterwards!

The original pamper party

A visit to the day spa is the original and possibly the most luxurious pamper party of them all! Who doesn’t feel transported to another world when they swap their clothes for a soft and fluffy robe and a pair of bride tribe slippers? There is something deliciously decadent about lounging about sipping champagne and nibbling canapes following an incredible massage, facial or treatment.

This option is perfect for a small group of ladies, and can be a standalone event or combined with an overnight stay at a luxury hotel or as part of a rural getaway. Guaranteed to impress, and most importantly relax the bride, but generally on the higher end of the scale so best to check in the girl gang before locking this option in.

Do it yourself

An at-home pamper party provides the perfect opportunity for the girls to connect with each other in a comfy and relaxing environment. Set up a few different DIY beauty bars such as a nail bar, lash station, facial station and a mini massage station, and take turns performing beauty treatments on each other.

Stay in for the night in your matching pjs, robes and slippers (hmmm anyone spot a recurring theme here?!) Combine your girls night in with the bride’s favourite takeout and a movie night watching the bride’s favourite flick. Pink and fluffy comes to mind with this type of pamper party so consider offering fairy floss champagne or creating a hot chocolate bar with marshmallows to enjoy with the movie.

Soak away

If you’ve chosen to whisk your bestie away for a long weekend amongst the vines or to a rural retreat you may just be heading in the direction of a natural thermal spring. A delicious soak in warm water might be just what the bride ordered after dealing with months of wedding planning and the stress it can bring with it.

You could choose to visit the public baths but it is best to pick an early time slot before heading off to another activity, or if you’ve managed to nab a day off work you could consider attending on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Prefer not to slum it with the general public? Treat her to an exclusive thermal pool with the bride squad only while sipping champagne from (plastic!) glasses and tag on a pampering spa treatment. Another fab opportunity to wear those personalised robes and slippers.

Nailed it

Consider booking a mani/pedi at your local nail bar for a quick, easy and affordable pamper session as you make your way between activities. If you have a large group, you may be able to book the whole place out for an hour or so and bring along your champagne and a game or two.

Beauty on the go

Not up for the expense of a day spa and not keen on DIY? Meet in the middle with an at-home pamper party where you won’t have to lift a perfectly manicured finger! Get the professional beauty therapists or hair and makeup artists to come to you and indulge at home. Choose from treatments such as facials and massages or get beautified by professional hair and makeup artists so you are camera ready for all those selfies you will definitely be taking!

Brushy Hair and Makeup on Wheels offer a unique mobile hair and makeup service in Sydney and throughout NSW. Not only do Brushy offer pampering hair and makeup application from their incredible mobile studio, but they also offer makeup lessons so you can learn how to perfect your look.

Get glittered

Hello festival babes! This one is for you! A hair braid and a bit of sparkle will always add the finishing touches to your Coachella-themed outfit. Bring in the services of a mobile glitter artist to professionally add a touch of sparkle and shine to the I do crew. Or, for a more affordable option set up a DIY glitter bar with a selection of glitters, adhesive and setting spray or glitter tattoos, just make sure you choose biodegradable glitter. And you thought there was nothing pamper about a festival party!

Mix it up

For the hands-on, beauty product obsessed bride-to-be, try a workshop where she can make her own soap, perfume or even skincare. Something we love about fragrance is its ability to evoke emotion. Do you ever get a whiff of a certain flower, perfume or even food smell and get taken back to a wonderful memory? Each of these options will have the ability to forever take her back to her hens day whenever she smells the beautiful fragrances used in the products she has created.

De Silva Lining Events can help you plan a soap or candle-making workshop in Melbourne whilst Class Bento have a variety of perfume, soap and skincare-making workshops on offer in various Australian cities.
